Simple Designs

Sometimes simple designs can be just what you need when you need to make a card in a hurry.  Having a go-to design is a great way to rustle up a beautiful card in no time at all.

For this design, I added a faux photo corner which has been peeled back to allow some flowers to nestle in the aperture created.  Making the photo corner couldn't be easier.

Simply cut out a right-angled triangle (the sides of mine were 3" long).  Turn so that the point is at the top with the long side at the bottom (my geometry is rather rusty).  Find the centre and make a small cut towards the point about 1" long.  Curl these edges back to create an aperture.  They're a great place for grouping flowers together on a card.

Pencil Lines Sketch 226

Just a quick post from me (I know I've been MIA).

I did a digi layout for this week's sketch. My DD has been celebrating her 7th birthday for what seems like weeks.  She is at an age where a birthday is such an exciting prospect (do you remember those days?)  She had her list ready.  She knew exactly what she wanted.  We had a sleepover party, a trip to the cinema and a birthday party.  It was exhausting.  Thankfully it is only once a year!

Thanks for popping in.  I'm off for a lie down :)

As time is not my own at the moment I've had to opt for simple cards.  I love this image - Piper - this uber-cool gal  is just so funky.  I love her stripey socks and those boots!

To make the background mat I used the packaging from some Jenni Bowlin buttons.  It's very sturdy cardboard and it's such a great shape.

Piper is coloured in with Copic Markers, papers are My Mind's Eye.

Triple Tiara Tuesday

Triple Tiara Tuesday is a weekly challenge over at Queen Kat Designs.  A challenge is set on the blog and 3 members participate.  You start right at the QKD blog and visit the 3 challenge hosts on their personal blogs. (Leave us some love and a link to your project so we can return the favor. *wink*)

The best news is that QKD will offer up a $25 stamp gift certificate for the players to compete for each month. So if you enter each week, you will have 4 chances to win the monthly prize of $25.

Here is this week's card challenge:

For my take on the challenge I've used Pisces  but this time I cut her out.  I've used an Embossing folder to create sun rays.  Sweet.

Why not pop along to Jules and Jeanie's blogs to have  a peek at their fabulous cards.

If you would like to take part you will need to link your card using the widget on QKD blog.  Good Luck!

Ups and Downs

Funny how you go at full pelt one minute and then completely loose it the next. Well not completely.  And I don't mean my mental health either.  I was scrapping like I was on a mission, I got loads of layouts done over a 4 week period then nothing.  Nada. I have about 3 layouts sitting there waiting for something.  Just not sure what yet.

So I thought I'd share I card I made for Queen Kat Stamps which I received my very first stamps this week. My first one is called Pisces - she is adorable. I am also a Pisces but I don't share the same legs obviously!

I haven't done any colouring for a while, so I've stuck to the colours I know.  I've also tried out my new lens so I'll need to get to grips with that.

If you want to see the colours I used, details are on the Dark Ink Sorority Blog.  I'm going to be back to tomrrow with my contribution for Pencil Lines.

Thanks for popping in.
